STATE FARES
The
State of California has a contract with selected airlines for special negotiated
rates and conditions covering certain specific routes known as City Pairs.
These City Pairs cover many of the most frequently traveled routes between cities
inside and outside of California. Employees and non-employees who travel on University business are eligible to use these fares. In 2007/08, State-contracted YCAL and VCAL airfares are available with American, Jet Blue, United, and US Air.
PLEASE NOTE: Southwest Airlines does not offer contracted fares for the 2007/08 year however they're committed to maintaining cost effective fares for the State of California. Rates remain competitive for many of the primary California routes. All University of California business travelers are encouraged to use Southwest and SWABIZ whenever possible as a cost saving travel resource.
This program can only be processed through a state approved travel agency and effective July 1, 2005, we partnered with Sunward Adventures Travel agency for this program.
Tickets must be purchased through Sunward Adventures Travel agency in Moreno Valley, California (http://www.carlsontravel.com/sunward/websites/get_Page.asp?nodeId=2105500). The state also approved other travel agencies that we cannot use because we do not have agreements with them.
To obtain a ticket, call Sunward Adventures at (800)786-9273. The travel agent assisting you will ask you for a Purchase Order number in order to finish the booking. Please process a Purchase Order payable to Sunward Adventures (vendor id: 0000008444). The processing fee per ticket is fifteen dollars ($15). The charges will appear on your general ledger under the name of the ghost card used by Sunward as follows:
Southwest Airline tickets are paid by American Express Business Travel Account (BTA) .
Non-Southwest Airline tickets are paid by US Bank Corporate Travel System (CTS) account.
In addition to the negotiated rates (which are often lower than regular fares), State fares also have the following advantages:
No advance booking requirements - book and fly the same day at no additional cost.
No overnight or weekend stays required - depart and return the same day at no additional cost.
No penalties for reservation changes - reschedule whenever necessary without penalty.
No cancellation penalties - get a full refund or credit for the cost of unused tickets.
Provides $200,000 of Business Accident Insurance
Provides Baggage Insurance ($1,250 for checked baggage, $500 for carry-on luggage)
